It is important to identify and stream your waste correctly in order to avoid harm to people or the environment - and to avoid the risk of fines.

Yellow lidded rigid containers

For non-soft infectious or potentially infectious clinical waste contaminated with chemicals or pharmaceutical/medicinal wastes e.g. IV giving sets.

Available in sizes: 30L and 60L.

This waste is treated using the Alternative Treatment Process.

Purple lidded rigid containers

Non-sharps cytotoxic / cytostatic waste, including IV giving sets and left over preparations.

Available in sizes: 30L and 60L.

This waste is sent for High Temperature incineration (above 1000ºc) in a suitably permitted facility.

Black lidded rigid containers

Anatomical waste including recognisable body tissues, blood samples, placenta, limbs etc. Bulk metals and non Autoclaved Laboratory Waste.

Available in sizes: 30L and 60L 

This waste is sent for High Temperature incineration (above 1000ºc) in a suitably permitted facility.

Sealed units should never be filled with more than 10kg of glass

Sealed units should be filled to maximum of three-quarters full OR to the fill-line marked on the container OR to the maximum weight of 20kg, whichever is reached first.
